Hi, this is Dr Kelley. I’d like to talk to you today about five procedures which can be performed in the office to rejuvenate your face and your neck without you having surgery. Many of our patients want to look rested, rejuvenated and restored. They don’t wanted to be obvious that they had something done. Many of us are not able to take off from work in order to have procedure done which requires significant downtime. If you fit in any of these categories then non-surgical facial rejuvenation may be for you.
The first procedure I’d like to talk about is Botox. Botox uses a purified protein which relaxes the muscles of facial expression helping to improve lines between the brows, lines in the forehead, and the small lines next to the eyes. Botox can be given in such a way that you still have movement of the muscles if that is what you desire. The treatment can be customized and individualized depending on what the result you desire.
One of the areas that you may not be aware that Botox could be use is in the lower face. Botox can be injected on the jaw line with a lift resulting in a tighter appearance of the jaw line. Botox will relax the muscles that falling down the jaw line such that the muscles that are pulling up are unopposed and can tighten the jaw line. Botox can also be used to help turn up the corners of the mouth. One of the signs of aging is that we develop lines coming from the corners of the mouth and the corners are also downturned. Botox can also be used in the neck to soften neck bands that can occur with aging.
Another procedure I’d like to talk to you about is Ultherapy. Ultherapy uses micro focus ultrasound energy to heat up the deeper tissues of the skin, stimulating collagen resulting in tightening and lifting. This procedure can help the jaw line, the neck, the loose skin under the chin and could also be a browlift. This procedure will result in new collagen formation and results continue to get better as your body makes new collagen. This procedure usually requires one treatment and it is safe for all skin types. It is a color blind procedure.
The third procedure I’d like to talk about are wrinkle fillers. Wrinkle fillers are used to fill in deeper wrinkles in the face but also can be used to restore volume. One of the things that occurs with aging is that we lose volume from fat loss as well as bone loss. One of the main areas that you lose volume is in the mid cheek. By restoring volume in the cheek it can help to soften nasal labia folds. Also can give an improvement to the jaw line and to look more rejuvenated and restored. Another area where we lose volume is in the temples. Putting volume back can give the eyes a more open appearance and help the eyes look more rejuvenated.
The fourth procedure that I’d like to discuss is Fractional CO2 Laser. CO2 laser has been used for years to oblate the skin resulting in improvement of sun damaged, wrinkled, crepey skin. Fractional CO2 laser is an evolution in the procedure since only a fraction of the skin is injured requiring less downtime, typically 4-6 days. The results from fractional laser treatments can be very remarkable. The skin looks healthier, pigment issues are resolved there is a slight tightening, you can easily take 5-10 years off. There is some downtime associated with procedure but the results are so great that most people don’t mind the downtime.
The last procedure I’d like to talk to you about is PRP or platelet rich plasma. Platelet rich plasma comes from your own blood. We draw your blood, spin it in a special tube in centrifuge and the plasma that’s on top is rich in growth factors. When those growth factors are reinjected into the face we see an improvement in tone and texture and also an improvement in crepey skin. It helps give the skin a glow typically about 4 weeks after PRP is administered. People notice a smoothness, tightening, pores are reduced in size. We love PRP. It can be used as a standalone procedure typicall pre treatments are required or can be added on to other procedures such as Ultherapy.
So once again, hopefully this will give you some ideas about thinsg that you may need to have done on to your face or desire to have them on your face.
Non surgical skin rejuvenation that technology is evolving. And we would love to talk to you about whether or not any of these procedures are for you.

Hi, this is Dr Kelley. I’d like to tell you a little bit about Microneedling and why we offer this procedure at our office.
Microneedling is the use of a device to deliver product deep into the skin. The epidermis is meant to be a barrier that is protective of our bodies. When products applied into the epidermis, it is very difficult for them to penetrate and in order for them to be true change in the skin, the product does need to get down to the dermis. Microneedling options include manual stamps, dermal rollers and also delivery systems. We have used all of them in our office and we’ve found the most effective way to deliver the products with microneedling is to use an automated microneedling pen.
The pen has multiple needles. The needles are able to penetrate. We are able to adjust the depth of penetration according to the area of the face. For example, the skin underneath the eyes is thinner than the skin on the cheeks. So there is an adjustment in the depth. The actual needle can help with stimulating collagen and then the products that we put on top are being push into the layers in the skin also can help with the pigment, help with tightening, help with acne scars. Some examples of products that can be used with the microneedling device include growth factors, Platelet rich plasma (PRP), vitamin C, products that help with reducing hyper pigmentation and other products that help with hydrating the skin.
Microneedling is a great tool to be able to deliver active ingredient to the deeper areas of the skin in order to really affect change in the skin.
We’d like to talk to you some more if you have any questions about Microneedling or any of our other procedures. Please give us a call at 770-649-0094 or you can email me at drkelley@cwaesthetics.com
Thank you for listening.
Frequently Asked Questions About Microneedling
What is Automated Micro-Needling?
Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance. During this procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker dermis with the appearance of softer wrinkles.
What are the Benefits?
The benefits of micro-needling are a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. Microneedling also has a positive effect on hyper-pigmentation as well as on hypo-pigmentation, acne scars, traumatic scars and stretch marks and generally creates a fresher appearance or glow to the skin.
What areas of the body can I treat?
Microneedling can be done on all parts of the body; Face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.
How is the procedure done?
A sterile needle-tip containing 12 tiny micro-needles is attached to the Eclipse Micropen™. Your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical gel to your skin and select the appropriate treatment depth based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.
What does it Feel Like?
The feeling associated with the Eclipse Micropen™ is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating needle tip reduces discomfort while the applied hydrating gel also makes the treatment more tolerable.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.
What is the downtime?
Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin.
The total healing time depends on the depth of needles used and the number of overlapping passes your skincare professional performs. On average, patients are red up to 2 to 4 days. Some patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours.
When will I see the results?
Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment as collagen production continues.
How many treatments will I need?
Some patients only require a single treatment, once per year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6 week intervals.

1:41 Do you want to know if Exilis is for you?
Hi, this is Dr Kelley. I’d like to tell you about Exilis of the face. Exilis is a skin rejuvenation device that uses radio frequency. The radio frequency stimulates the production of new collagen resulting in the tightening of the jaw line, the area underneath the chin, the neck. It also helps with lifting the brows diminishing crows feet. This procedure is non-invasive, has no downtime, does not require any numbing. It feels like a hot stone is being rubbed across the area of treatment. It feels hot but it’s definitely tolerable and it’s quite effective.
A series of 4-6 treatments is required in order to see the full results. It takes the body about 4 weeks to make the collagen so the maximum result is seen about two months after your last treatment. The frequency of treatments is every 7-14 days in order to see the best result. During this procedure we go over the area of treatment with the facial hand piece, slowly heats up the area to a particular temperature that stimulates collagen formation. Patients have told us that it feels like a hot steam massage. We keep the device moving in order to keep you comfortable. If you were able to return to normal activity after the procedure, there may be a slight pinkness to the skin which resolves fairly quickly. There is no risk of bruising or anything else after this procedure. This procedure works very well for someone who is not interested in having a more intrusive and invasive procedure performed and it does work well in particular if it’s combined with some of the other procedures that we offer here including platelet rich plasma (PRP), fillers, botox, etc.
We’d love to talk to you more about whether or not Exilis is the right procedure for you. So please give us a call at 770-649-0094 or you can email me at drkelley@cwaesthetics.com

Hi, This is Dr Kelley. I’d like to tell you about PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)
Platelet rich plasma has been used for years for orthopedic surgery to promote healing. It is also being used in combination with fat transfer in order to increase the take of the graft. We are using PRP as a standalone treatment here in the office to treat wrinkles, crepey skin, help with pigment and improve overall tone and texture of the skin.
So what is PRP? Platelet rich plasma is derived from your own blood. We draw your blood just like you’re having a routine lab test done into a special tube which then filters out the red cells and leaves the white cells and platelets in the plasma layer. When calcium is added to the plasma it causes the platelets to release growth factors which improve tone and texture of the skin. These growth factors stimulate collagen, stimulate elastin production and also help to improve blood flow to the area. We are finding an improvement in crepey skin underneath the eyes. Also seeing an improvement on pores that can be used to help with acne scars and overall rejuvenation of the face.
This usually requires a series of three to four treatments. One treatment every month. And at times the results are similar to the results seen with a more aggressive laser treatment. PRP is natural. It comes from your own blood, however it does not put volume back into areas where there is a lost of volume. So often times, combining PRP with filler can give a better result. PRP can be injected into acne scars and provide a way of stimulating collagen production in those areas without using any more aggressive treatment which may result in post inflammatory hyper pigmentation after the procedure.
So once again, we would like to tell you a little bit more about PRP and let you know if it’s the procedure for you.

Hi this is Dr Kelley. I’d like to tell you a little bit about PRP Lift and the vampire facelift.
PRP or platelet rich plasma has been used for years in other surgical applications but just recently in the past three years or so have been administered to the face. Platelet Rich Plasma comes from your own blood and it’s drawn and processed such that the plasma that’s harvested is rich in platelets. These platelets when they are activated release growth factors and these growth factors improve collagen, elastin, thickness of the skin and improves circulation in the area where they are injected. It has been found that when combining PRP injections with filler injections like, Restylne and Juvederm that there is an enhanced appearance and a better result.
When PRP was first administered to the face, it was hoped that it would replace fillers. However, it’s been found that PRP does not restore volume and the cheeks or deeper folds and that the combination of the two yields better result. The PRP Lift is great for people who are in their 30’s or early 60’s who have lost some volume in the cheeks, have folds by the corners of their mouth do not have severe laxity and wants to see an improvement in crepey skin. It can really rejuvenate the eye if they are administered in the eye area using blunt needles which is less traumatic than sharp needles.
We would love to see you to tell you if PRP Lift or vampire facelift is something that would be of benefit to you. So please contact us for consultation and we can tell you more about it.
Thank you for listening.

Hi this is Dr Kelley.
I’d like to give you an update on ultherapy at Cobb Wellness & Aesthetics.
Ultherapy is a procedure that uses ultrasound energy to heat up the
deeper tissues of the face stimulating collagen resulting in tightening
and lifting of the jaw line, skin underneath the chin, the neck and the
brow.
It is a great non surgical option for people who do not want to have
surgery or are candidates of surgery who do not have severe laxity. We
have device at our office for about two years and we found that we do
get great results when we go more aggressive with the lines of energy.
The protocols for the procedure have evolved over time and we have
found here in our office and actually built an official ultherapy
protocols now incorporate increase density of lines of treatment.
We have also noticed here on our office that we see a better result
when we combined the heat and the collagen stimulation of ultherapy
with plasma administration immediately after the procedure.
I have found that there is an improvement in tone and in texture and
improvement around the eyes, the skin just looks just healthier. There
is more of a glow, and there seems to be a synergy between the heating
of the ultherapy as well as the growth factors from rich plasma.
So once again, we continue to evolve and change and grow and improve
our procedure so we can give our patients the best results. So
hopefully that gives you a bit of an update about ultherapy and we will
hopefully see you in the future for consultation. Take care and thank
you for listening.
