Reverse Sun Damage with Chemical Peels
Spending too much time in the sun can put you at risk for sunburn. It also makes you susceptible to skin issues such as hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and fine lines. However, you can reverse sun damage with chemical peels. Chemical peels utilize a chemical solution to slough away the upper layer of sun damaged skin, in order to improve skin texture and tone.
There are different types of chemical peels, ranging from superficial to deep peels. The type of peel chosen for your skin problem will depend on the severity of the condition being treated. Milder peels can correct early signs of aging and light acne, while deeper peels are better suited to pigmentation issues, and deeper lines and wrinkles.
Here are some of the chemical peels often used by physicians to reverse sun damage:
- The Perfect Peel is among the most effective chemical peels for skin repair. It boasts glutathione as a component, and this antioxidant gives the Perfect Peel superior power. Not only does it address photodamage, pigmentation, and similar issues, but the glutathione works to protect the skin cells from further damage.
- The Cosmelan Peel is used to treat hyperpigmentation, because it blocks the production of melanin. This makes it very effective in treating melasma. It involves the application of a mask in-office, which is left to take effect for up to 12 hours. The Cosmelan Peel is suitable for all skin types, and can be used on the face and body.
- The Jessner/TCA Peel utilizes trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and phenol to strip away the outer layer of the skin, to reveal younger looking skin. This peel is recommended for the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, and to correct photodamage.
If you would like to reverse sun damage and improve the appearance of your skin, then contact Cobb Wellness and Aesthetics in Roswell, GA. They offer these chemical peels to rejuvenate your skin and reverse the effects of sun damage. What is a Vampire Facelift?
When you think of a vampire, do you think of someone with eternal youth? Beautifully glowing skin? The kind of beauty that stops people – and their victims! – in their tracks?
Hollywood has always had a fascination with vampires, as they represent the ability to transcend aging so that they’re young forever. Now the cosmetic dermatology world is taking notice – and at Cobb Wellness and Aesthetics in Roswell, GA, Dr. Linda Kelley is proud to offer her patients the Vampire Facelift treatment. Dr. Kelley is among the first dermatologists in the greater Atlanta area to offer this premier treatment, which can help you look years younger with just a single treatment.
And it’s all thanks to your blood.
The Vampire Facelift Process
Perhaps you’ve seen the infamous Keeping Up With The Kardashians episode where Kim underwent a Vampire Facelift. Perhaps you’ve never heard of the treatment. Regardless, the Vampire Facelift is one of the hottest new facial treatments in the aesthetics industry today – and for good reason. The Vampire Facelift utilizes the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in your blood to help reinvigorate and revitalize the look and feel of your facial skin.
It might sound scary and complicated, but the process is actually straightforward. During the Vampire Facelift process, Dr. Kelley draws a sample of your blood, and then removes the platelets from the blood using a special separating machine. Once the platelets have been isolated, Dr. Kelley blends them with a fibrin mixture. After this step, the mixture is ready to be injected into the patient’s desired treatment area, which is usually the face.
The Vampire Facelift is ideal for patients who want to smooth away wrinkles, fine lines, and creases from the facial skin. Clients can expect some minor swelling during the process; however, the swelling usually goes down in about a day. Clients will see optimal results a few weeks after the initial treatment.
Results can last anywhere from 12 to 18 months, making this a great long-term treatment option for clients (or should we say, vampires!) who are thirsty for eternal youth

Can Micro-needling Help Treat Stretch Marks?
Micro-needling skin therapy has quickly become a force in the cosmetic skincare world. This skin renewal technique is very beneficial in treating wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, and even stretch marks. Let’s find out how micro-needling uses the body’s natural healing ability to help treat stretch marks. The needling procedure may stimulate collagen production by creating microinjuries. The channels that are created allow active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and growth factors to be delivered more deeply to the skin.
How Micro-needling with the Rejuvapen can treat stretch marks
Micro-needling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure, in which a micro-roller or pen fitted with tiny needles, makes microscopic perforations in the skin. As the needles stamp the skin they penetrate the dermal layer, and this action encourages the body to repair itself.
Stretch marks or striae are streaks in the skin, which are usually the result of the excess stretching of the skin due to pregnancy, or significant weight changes. These streaks form in the dermis where the micro-roller can penetrate, and stimulate collagen production. This helps with skin renewal, and also induces skin tightening.
The new collagen that forms makes the skin smoother, and also fills in stretch marks, so that they are less noticeable. It typically takes about 6-8 treatments to achieve the required fading of the stretch marks, especially when the marks are old and deep. It is best to use growth factors along with the Rejuvapen procedure.
Active ingredients are delivered to the skin via the micro channels created by the micro roller. The superficial punctures assist with the absorption of the ingredients that can enhance the effects of micro-needling.
Although the procedure is not painful, numbing cream is applied at the start of treatment. Rejuvapen Micro-needling therapy sessions typically take about 30 minutes with 30 minute of numbing prior to the procedure. Because stretch marks are scars, you must have some patience and plan on multiple sessions typically spaced 1 month apart.
If you have questions about how Rejuvapen micro-needling may help treat stretch marks, then contact Dr. Linda Kelley of Cobb Wellness and Aesthetics, Roswell, GA. Just fill out the form in the right sidebar or call us at (770) 649-0094.

Learn MoreTop Procedures to Tighten and Rejuvenate the Skin
When it comes to looking your best, nothing compares to the look and feel of firm, youthful-looking skin. But perhaps during your pursuit of skin rejuvenation, you discovered that skin creams and serums weren’t all that they were cracked up to be. Maybe you were sick of spending hundreds of dollars on skin creams every month, or perhaps you became tired of investing in yet another “miracle” anti-aging product.
No matter where you are in your anti-aging fight, it’s time to get hopeful again – because two new treatments at Cobb Wellness and Aesthetics in Roswell, GA promise to help firm, tone, and rejuvenate your skin.
Based in the greater Atlanta metro area, Cobb Wellness and Aesthetics is owned and operated by Dr. Linda Kelley, an expert in anti-aging medicines. In addition to her current menu of anti-aging treatments, Dr. Kelley is pleased to offer her clients skin rejuvenation via two innovative technologies: Ultherapy and Exilis.
Let’s explore what these two treatments can do for you.
- Ultherapy: This is a non-invasive procedure that utilizes ultrasound energy to help tighten and tone the skin. When the energy permeates the skin, skin cells are re-energized; additionally, collagen production levels increase, which produces natural-looking results. Ultherapy can also contour the treatment area, which is ideal for patients looking to sculpt trouble spots. Because the skin tightens during the treatment, this disrupts stubborn fat cells, which are then removed by the body’s natural waste processes.
Ultherapy requires no downtime, but it is the most expensive of the two treatment options. Results last between 12-18 months.
- Exilis: This is another non-invasive treatment that is similar to Ultherapy in terms of size and scope. Exilis uses radiofrequency energy, which creates the kind of heat that tightens and contours the skin. In addition to skin rejuvenation, Exilis is the preferred body contouring method of the two treatments. Clients may experience a slight heating sensation during the treatment.
Exilis requires no downtime, and is the cheaper of the two options. However, to see excellent results, Exilis does require a series of treatments. Results last between 12-18 months.
No matter what your skin rejuvenation and tightening needs are, you can find the results you’re looking for at Cobb Wellness and Aesthetics, serving the greater Atlanta, GA area. Learn MoreReverse the Signs of Aging with Sculptra
You pride yourself in always looking your best. That’s why you make every effort to eat right, get in a good workout, and dress in perfectly tailored fashions. Yet no matter how many expensive skin creams you slather on your face and neck at night, you just can’t seem to keep up with the march of time. Those wrinkles and fine lines seem to crop up daily whenever you look in the bathroom mirror – and your face is beginning to lose the volume that once kept those wrinkles at bay.
Fortunately, you’re not alone in your fight against the most pervasive signs of aging. At Cobb Wellness and Aesthetics in Roswell, also serving the greater metro Atlanta area, Dr. Linda Kelley and her staff members are pleased to offer a menu of anti-aging treatments designed to produce the most natural-looking results possible. Dr. Kelley has recently added Sculptra to her menu, which is an FDA-approved injectable dermal filler designed to treat the biggest signs of aging, including:
- Loss of facial volume, especially in the cheeks
- Wrinkles
- Fine lines
- Facial fat loss
- Folds
- Sagging skin
Unlike Botox and similar injectables – which paralyzes facial muscles to create smoother-looking skin – Sculptra actually works with the body’s natural processes to stimulate collagen production level. As soon as Sculptra is injected into the treatment area, the skin’s collagen production level is kick-started, resulting in higher cellular turnover and smoother-looking skin.
Sculptra is also used to add volume to the cheek and temple areas. This is critical for producing the most natural results, as younger people have more facial volume. When combined with Botox or another filler, Sculptra can help create natural results that will leave your friends and family members guessing.
In order to see the results you want, you’ll typically have to go for three to four sessions. These sessions should be scheduled four to six weeks apart to achieve natural and maintainable results. Clients can expect a little bit of bruising or swelling at the injection site.

4:03 Who to contact for more details about these procedures
Hi, this is Dr Kelley. I’d like to talk to you today about five procedures which can be performed in the office to rejuvenate your face and your neck without you having surgery. Many of our patients want to look rested, rejuvenated and restored. They don’t wanted to be obvious that they had something done. Many of us are not able to take off from work in order to have procedure done which requires significant downtime. If you fit in any of these categories then non-surgical facial rejuvenation may be for you.
The first procedure I’d like to talk about is Botox. Botox uses a purified protein which relaxes the muscles of facial expression helping to improve lines between the brows, lines in the forehead, and the small lines next to the eyes. Botox can be given in such a way that you still have movement of the muscles if that is what you desire. The treatment can be customized and individualized depending on what the result you desire.
One of the areas that you may not be aware that Botox could be use is in the lower face. Botox can be injected on the jaw line with a lift resulting in a tighter appearance of the jaw line. Botox will relax the muscles that falling down the jaw line such that the muscles that are pulling up are unopposed and can tighten the jaw line. Botox can also be used to help turn up the corners of the mouth. One of the signs of aging is that we develop lines coming from the corners of the mouth and the corners are also downturned. Botox can also be used in the neck to soften neck bands that can occur with aging.
Another procedure I’d like to talk to you about is Ultherapy. Ultherapy uses micro focus ultrasound energy to heat up the deeper tissues of the skin, stimulating collagen resulting in tightening and lifting. This procedure can help the jaw line, the neck, the loose skin under the chin and could also be a browlift. This procedure will result in new collagen formation and results continue to get better as your body makes new collagen. This procedure usually requires one treatment and it is safe for all skin types. It is a color blind procedure.
The third procedure I’d like to talk about are wrinkle fillers. Wrinkle fillers are used to fill in deeper wrinkles in the face but also can be used to restore volume. One of the things that occurs with aging is that we lose volume from fat loss as well as bone loss. One of the main areas that you lose volume is in the mid cheek. By restoring volume in the cheek it can help to soften nasal labia folds. Also can give an improvement to the jaw line and to look more rejuvenated and restored. Another area where we lose volume is in the temples. Putting volume back can give the eyes a more open appearance and help the eyes look more rejuvenated.
The fourth procedure that I’d like to discuss is Fractional CO2 Laser. CO2 laser has been used for years to oblate the skin resulting in improvement of sun damaged, wrinkled, crepey skin. Fractional CO2 laser is an evolution in the procedure since only a fraction of the skin is injured requiring less downtime, typically 4-6 days. The results from fractional laser treatments can be very remarkable. The skin looks healthier, pigment issues are resolved there is a slight tightening, you can easily take 5-10 years off. There is some downtime associated with procedure but the results are so great that most people don’t mind the downtime.
The last procedure I’d like to talk to you about is PRP or platelet rich plasma. Platelet rich plasma comes from your own blood. We draw your blood, spin it in a special tube in centrifuge and the plasma that’s on top is rich in growth factors. When those growth factors are reinjected into the face we see an improvement in tone and texture and also an improvement in crepey skin. It helps give the skin a glow typically about 4 weeks after PRP is administered. People notice a smoothness, tightening, pores are reduced in size. We love PRP. It can be used as a standalone procedure typicall pre treatments are required or can be added on to other procedures such as Ultherapy.
So once again, hopefully this will give you some ideas about thinsg that you may need to have done on to your face or desire to have them on your face.
Non surgical skin rejuvenation that technology is evolving. And we would love to talk to you about whether or not any of these procedures are for you.

Hi, this is Dr Kelley. I’d like to tell you a little bit about Microneedling and why we offer this procedure at our office.
Microneedling is the use of a device to deliver product deep into the skin. The epidermis is meant to be a barrier that is protective of our bodies. When products applied into the epidermis, it is very difficult for them to penetrate and in order for them to be true change in the skin, the product does need to get down to the dermis. Microneedling options include manual stamps, dermal rollers and also delivery systems. We have used all of them in our office and we’ve found the most effective way to deliver the products with microneedling is to use an automated microneedling pen.
The pen has multiple needles. The needles are able to penetrate. We are able to adjust the depth of penetration according to the area of the face. For example, the skin underneath the eyes is thinner than the skin on the cheeks. So there is an adjustment in the depth. The actual needle can help with stimulating collagen and then the products that we put on top are being push into the layers in the skin also can help with the pigment, help with tightening, help with acne scars. Some examples of products that can be used with the microneedling device include growth factors, Platelet rich plasma (PRP), vitamin C, products that help with reducing hyper pigmentation and other products that help with hydrating the skin.
Microneedling is a great tool to be able to deliver active ingredient to the deeper areas of the skin in order to really affect change in the skin.
We’d like to talk to you some more if you have any questions about Microneedling or any of our other procedures. Please give us a call at 770-649-0094 or you can email me at drkelley@cwaesthetics.com
Thank you for listening.
Frequently Asked Questions About Microneedling
What is Automated Micro-Needling?
Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or CIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance. During this procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker dermis with the appearance of softer wrinkles.
What are the Benefits?
The benefits of micro-needling are a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. Microneedling also has a positive effect on hyper-pigmentation as well as on hypo-pigmentation, acne scars, traumatic scars and stretch marks and generally creates a fresher appearance or glow to the skin.
What areas of the body can I treat?
Microneedling can be done on all parts of the body; Face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.
How is the procedure done?
A sterile needle-tip containing 12 tiny micro-needles is attached to the Eclipse Micropen™. Your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical gel to your skin and select the appropriate treatment depth based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.
What does it Feel Like?
The feeling associated with the Eclipse Micropen™ is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating needle tip reduces discomfort while the applied hydrating gel also makes the treatment more tolerable.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.
What is the downtime?
Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin.
The total healing time depends on the depth of needles used and the number of overlapping passes your skincare professional performs. On average, patients are red up to 2 to 4 days. Some patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours.
When will I see the results?
Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment as collagen production continues.
How many treatments will I need?
Some patients only require a single treatment, once per year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6 week intervals.
